Every day, we go into battle.
With the extensive noise surrounding each of us, I cannot recall a time when becoming more intentional is so important.
The Navy Seal’s refer to living in a “3-Foot World”. Three spheres constantly compete for our attention:

Outside of this image, there is the world inside our own head. The world of those closest to us – family, teammates, trusted peers. The noisy outside world – news feeds, social media, endless distractions.
Here’s the problem: most of us spend far too much time in World #3, the one we control the least. We scroll, we click, we react. Before we know it, hours are lost and our minds are cluttered with fear, anger, or envy.
Navy SEALs don’t live like that. Their lives depend on clarity, discipline, and focus. They know what matters: mission, team, self. If they allowed themselves to be distracted by noise, they wouldn’t survive. They speak about being “front sight focused”.
The same lesson applies to us as entrepreneurs, executives, and human beings. Happiness and focus don’t come from “more”. They come from subtraction – cutting out what doesn’t serve us.
Doing less, better!
So how do we live like Navy SEALs in a 3-Foot World?
- Choose silence over noise. Eliminate news cycles designed to hijack your emotions. Your brain isn’t a dumping ground for outrage.
- Protect your inner circle. Invest deeply in the few people who really matter. Build trust. Spend time. Go deeper instead of wider.
- Strengthen your inner world. Meditate, journal, exercise. Like SEALs train every day, train your mind and body to perform under pressure.
The paradox is that by narrowing your focus, life expands. When you free yourself from distraction, you gain time, energy, and perspective. You start showing up with more presence in the relationships and work that matter most.
Living in a 3-Foot World doesn’t mean withdrawing. It means choosing wisely. It means aligning with the SEAL mindset: clarity, discipline, and purpose.
Becoming more intentional.
Happiness is not “out there.” It’s already within you – if you’re willing to cut the noise and commit to the mission of your own life.
The only question is “Are you ready to live a life in a 3-Foot World?”.
